Happiness has no fixed definition, and it is not the same for all. Everyone finds joy in different things. But the right to be happy is for all of us. That’s why this year we celebrate International Day of Happiness with the idea of bringing happiness to all.
There is no fixed day to be happy and spread happiness. Every day can be a joyful day; all you need to do is look for those moments, keeping aside all your stress and tensions.
But nowadays, we have limited our happiness to superficial and materialistic things, which are temporary. We have forgotten the real meaning of smile and being happy in our life. We think that only expensive items matter, and these can make someone smile. But that is not true! Look around you, and you will find these small things like a smiling baby, a flower, chocolate, etc., can make you smile, and you forget all your tensions.
You can also join the campaign to spread happiness in other’s lives this year with the following small gestures:
- Make Someone Smile
You don’t need to plan an elaborate surprise to make someone happy. You could complement your friends or family members, send them a card, and greet or talk politely with a stranger. These things can brighten your and your loved one’s day instantly.
- Express Gratitude
What’s a better way than saying ‘thank you’ to express happiness? Everyone loves being appreciated for the act they have done. It will give you and the receiver a surge of self-worth and accomplishment. A small thank you can be a great motivator to encourage someone to do good.
- Do What Makes You Smile
When you are happy, you will reflect that emotion, and it will make the atmosphere around you joyful as well. So, find what makes you happy, like singing, dancing, cooking, talking, etc. Do whatever you like, and make your happiness your priority.
- Use Your Words Wisely
Words have a lot of power. Sometimes we speak mindlessly and end up hurting other’s feelings. That’s why think before you speak, as your one word can bring a smile to someone’s face or could ruin their day. It will make you feel internally satisfied and will improve your relationships with others.
Forget what happened in the past and what will happen in the future. If you learn to stay in the present, you will enjoy the happy moments of your life every day. It will make you realize how content you are, and you will be able to spread positivity and smile in others’ lives.
