There was some magical thinking that took place when half of the world was in their homes during the lockdown and struggling with uncertainties. My introspective time helped in deep-diving into my last two decades, where I contributed to the health and wellness sectors. I spent quality time in defining strategies to establish and improve health, hygiene, and happiness values within the workplace community by space design and planning efforts. Now, I realized that the time has arrived at utilizing that experience, and creating wellness awareness to improve human health and mental wellness. Mind stimulation, encouraging fitness activities, and sustainable environment are significant contributors.
The experience got elaborated and reiterated as a preventive healthcare initiative to support the broader community since the world is going through a difficult time of COVID – 19. Let us accept that present circumstances are not in our control except our lifestyle, health, and wellness state. Knowing the links between mind and body has become the priority in redefining strategies to reduce the co-exist conditions of mental illnesses and physical conditions.
Both mind and body are affected by changes to physiological and emotional processes as well as by surrounded the natural environment. Mental wellness and physical health are fundamentally linked. People living with severe mental illness are at higher risk of experiencing a wide range of long-lasting physical conditions. On the other hand, people living with chronic physical health conditions experience serious mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, and hormonal imbalances. Co-existing psychological and physical conditions can diminish the quality of life and lead to a more prolonged illness duration.
It is of utmost importance to balance the logical and emotional state of mind equally reasonably to nurture both the head and the heart to ensure mental wellness. Heart deals with feelings like love, fear, joy, anger, sadness, surprise, whereas leader deals with intellectual where facts and logic being discussed, and act based on knowledge. If our emotions are more significant in proportion to the intellectual, we may get misled and get carried away by them. Both (feelings and brain) are essential aspects of life; however, controlling emotions by the mental state of mind may help us study our emotional states for psychological well-being.
The natural environment contributes to both our physical health and mental wellness by sustainable lifestyle and environmentally responsible behavior by promoting and protecting our natural environment. Developing strong relationships and harmonize human activity can bring potential positive impacts on the community and individual wellbeing.
