Manisha Koirala, a popular Bollywood actress, has faced many ups and downs in her life. But her life took a three-sixty degree turn when she was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer in 2012, in between her reigning career.
Ovarian cancer is a grave gynecologic problem discovered in at least 1 out of 70 women. This cancer’s main reason is the mutation in a gene or a family history with the same problem.
Manisha disclosed that in 2012 when she started to fall sick and had issues in her abdomen, she associated it with a liver problem and did not pay much attention. But later, when her pain increased, she referred to the doctor, and her illness was discovered.
She also revealed that like every patient who receives this news, she panicked and went blank. Her thoughts went into turmoil, and images of saying goodbye to everyone cluttered her mind.
But five years later, when Manisha was cancer-free, she thrived as a strong and self-assured woman. Even when she was losing her hopes, her family and doctors had supported her at every point. She confessed that she had learned a new life lesson in those years and wanted to share the same with everyone.
She wrote a book about her journey named HEALED – How Cancer Gave Me A New Life, published in 2018. The book is a profoundly personal account of her life, which is a roller coaster ride for the readers. Through this, she expressed her fears, emotions and how she overcome everything and bounced back successfully.
However, she spread awareness about the treatment and the disease after she recovered from cancer in 2013. She wanted to use her star status for society’s welfare and probably help someone who needed it. Afterward, she became a motivational speaker and gave speeches regarding the same in various schools, colleges, hospitals, and organizations.
Small ignorance can cause risk to you not in health but in other aspects of your life too. Even if the problem is small, consult the doctor immediately. It will be good for your health and save you from facing any complications in the future.
By sharing her cancer journey, Manisha has become an inspiration for all the cancer survivors fighting for their lives and had lost hope to live. Along with them, she has taught us a vital lesson of life that everyone has to face hurdles in the race of life, and the real fighter is the one who stays in the ground and fights rather than leaving the ground seeing the limitations.
